DUBAI INTERNATIONAL PARACHUTING CHAMPIONSHIP
OFFICE OF HH THE CROWN PRINCE OF DUBAI
The fourth edition of the Dubai International Parachuting Championships (DIPC) was officially declared open at a spectacular ceremony held at Meydan. An audience of 4,600, which included members of the Royal Family, foreign dignitaries, VIP’s, DIPC competitors and members of the public attended the event.
The show arena was built using a double arch spanning 80 meters along both axes, positioned over a central performance area and a giant video screen 43 meters in length.
The spectacular show combined dynamic cirque style performance synchronised to an energetic soundtrack and stunning backdrop of film and computer generated imagery, which was all generated in 5k resolution.
The underlying story behind the show paralleled a day in the life of an Emirati hunter on horseback with his falcon and a lone skydiver. Highlights of the show included an epic surround sound soundtrack, international cirque performers including 3 x Cyr wheel performers in LED costume, ‘Team Extreme’ aerial artists who performed on power bungees from the 18m high arches and ‘Windriders’ dancing on powerful airstreams with 12m high silks. When a DJ rose through the stage in a booth constructed from LED screens, every member of the audience became a part of the show as their Xylobands flashed to the beat.
The finale saw international stunt pilot ‘Zoltan’ perform overhead in his agile stunt plane with bright LEDs in UAE colors and high-powered laser effects. His final climb into the sky was the cue to start the firework spectacular, which concluded the extraordinary ceremony.
