Held in the multi-purpose indoor arena at the impressive Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex, the opening ceremonies kicked off the NAS Sports Tournament in energetic style.

The 2016 event was hosted by ‘NASO’ the robot who entertained the audience alongside a variety of exciting acts including acrobats on hoverboards, a Futsal game played in the dark and a performance from the ‘Lords of Lightning’.

The concept for the 2015 event was an uplifting story told through live theatre, beautiful and dynamic cinematography, live performance and special effects. The story focused on a central character and explored his close relationship with his brothers, friends and family.

​

A beautifully produced film was interspersed with live action scenes and dynamic performances from illuminated ‘Tron’ dancers, inline skaters, trampolinists, BMX riders and an extreme wheelchair athlete.

For the 2014 ceremony, following an introductory film, tournament disciplines were brought to life via performers interacting with video content in virtual sporting arenas.

The tightly choreographed show included international Parkour athletes, BMX riders, football tricksters, acrobatic jugglers and the unique “laser fighters”.

​

The entire set was cleared in less than nine minutes ready for the first match of the competition.
